Majel Roddenberry, widow of Star Trek creator, Gene Roddenberry, died in her sleep shortly after midnight Thursday, 12/18/2008. She was surrounded by family loved ones.
I never had the opportunity to meet Majel, however I've always been a fan of her various roles in the Star Trek universe, as well as one of her post Star Trek productions, Earth: Final Conflict. Majel had personally responded to an email I had sent to Earth: Final Conflict's website. I unfortunately no longer have the email due to a computer crash, but I was thrilled to have received a message from her, it was truly like being touched by Star Trek royalty.
One of my personal favorite characters she portrayed in Star Trek: The Next Generation was that of Deanna Troi's mother, Lwaxana Troi. She was such a vibrant character and was always flirting with Captain Picard.
Thank you Majel for the delightfully entertaining characters you brought to life.
Majel fans will get one more treat to her computer voice in the upcoming Star Trek movie due out in May 2009.
It's surprising to me, that in almost 8 years, this is the only incident we've heard of. I applaud the brave journalist for his actions, and I'm surprised this is all that has been done. How many Iraqi's have been killed by President Bush, Rumsfield & Cheney? History will most likely judge George Bush in the same light as Adolf Hitler. President Bush = Iraqi Exterminator.
I'm thankful that Barack Obama will be taking office soon, Bush cannot exit quickly enough for me.
